- To provide integrated, holistic and innovative programme that will instill passion in the teaching and learning of Mother Tongue Language among both teachers and students.
- To forge sustainable partnership with the community in the promotion of Mother Tongue Language.
- To customise programme for students of varied abilities to fulfil the objectives of an ability-driven education.

We believe that through reading, students will be able to connect to the outside world as well as their inner world. In Xinmin, under “Read@Xinmin Programme”, through “Leisure Reading” and “News-In-Education” two domains, we develop students in both of their sensibility and rationality.

Language Learning in Authentic Settings
Language learning should not be confined within classroom, in fact, Mother Tongue Language should play the role as a life language, to enable students to learn and practise it in their daily life. Students are brought out of the classroom to learn the Mother Tongue Language and Culture by experienced it.

Culture and Aesthetic Exposure Programme
Apart from the instructional programmes, the department aims to promote and strengthen our students’ sense of cultural heritage and identity through a variety of programmes such as the Chinese New Year Celebration, Hari Raya Awareness Programme, Mother Tongue Language Festival, Cultural Performance Exposure Scheme (CPES) and Culture & Aesthetic Exposure Programme (CAEP).
