Welcome to Xinmin Debate Club!

The Xinmin Debate Club nurtures logical reasoning and sharpens analytical thinking in its members, guiding them to craft well-founded opinions and communicate their ideas with clarity and conviction. Students take part in both internal sparring matches and national-level competitions, demonstrating their strengths across different formats and styles of debating. Recently, members have joined events designed for both seasoned debaters and newcomers, giving them rich opportunities to practise, learn and grow in their craft.

Leadership Development:

The Xinmin Debate Club thrives under the commitment of its Executive Committee, whose leaders take on essential responsibilities while sharpening their leadership skills. They plan and coordinate programmes, oversee debate sessions and manage duties during training and competitions, ensuring that every activity is conducted smoothly and effectively.

Excellence:

In 2026, the Xinmin Debate Club Lower Secondary Team proudly attained Silver position at the National Schools Debating Championship. The Upper Secondary Team earned a hard fought Breaking Second position at the Debate Association Debating Championship. In our CCA, success is not measured solely by the final score, but by the courage it takes to step into the arena. We believe in providing broad-based opportunities for all our members to gain match experience. By prioritising participation over podiums, we foster a culture of inclusivity and long-term resilience.

While we are proud of our competitive achievements, our selection philosophy is rooted in opportunity and inclusivity. We intentionally field members to provide them with invaluable ‘on-the-ground’ experience, believing that the lessons learned in the heat of competition. resilience, composure, and sportsmanship, cannot be taught in a classroom.

Success is a collective effort. Each member has played a part in pushing boundaries, supporting one another, and striving for improvement together. We recognise that a team's strength is not just in its top performers, but in the depth of its camaraderie and the shared lessons learned through both victory and defeat. The spirit of collaboration and determination forms the foundation of the club, and we continue to build on these successes as we grow stronger, sharper, and more united with every experience.

Community Engagement:
