Direct School Admission

Under the Direct School Admission Exercise, students with exceptional talents listed below may be considered for direct entry to Xinmin Secondary School for the Secondary 1 cohort of 2027.

Parents and students are encouraged to choose schools wisely based on the student's aptitudes and strengths, bearing in mind the schools' academic and non-academic requirements, and the programmes available to develop the area of talent.

DSA Application Procedure

Applications for DSA-Sec can be submitted through the online DSA-Sec Portal. The application is free-of-charge and will be open from 6 May 2026, 11am to 2 June 2026, 4.30pm.

How to apply

Selection Process

  • Shortlisted candidates will be notified via email latest by 3 July 2026.

  • Shortlisted candidates will be required to sit for the required questionnaires, trials, auditions and interviews sessions as specified under the different talent areas.

  • Shortlisted candidates will have to attend separate sessions of questionnaires/ trials/ auditions/ interviews if they have applied for more than one talent area.

  • The questionnaires/ trials/ auditions/ interviews for shortlisted candidates will be conducted between 20 July 2026 and 6 August 2026 at Xinmin Secondary School.

Results of Application

All final results will be notified by email to the applicants to inform them of the outcome,

  • (i) Confirmed Offer (CO),

  • (ii) Wait List (WL),

  • (iii) Unsuccessful.

All candidates will receive their application outcomes between 17 and 28 August 2026.

Students who are successfully admitted to the school via DSA are expected to honour their commitment to the school and participate in the activities related to the talent they are selected for from Year 1-4/5.

2026 Talent Areas and Criteria

Important notes:

  1. Applicants who do not have prior experience may also apply. The school will assess applicants based on the selection criteria, which may include assessing the potential of the applicants.

  2. Meeting all the criteria does not guarantee the student will be shortlisted/given an offer.

  3. Due to different profiles of applicants, selection/shortlisting trends may differ year on year.
