Welcome to Xinmin Guzheng Ensemble,
where the rich tradition of the instrument harmonizes with the vibrant energy of our students.
At Xinmin Guzheng Ensemble, we believe that learning the Guzheng transcends the mere mastery of notes and melodies. Our members discover the art of musical expression while developing discipline, teamwork, and a deep appreciation for the performing arts. Regular practice sessions prepare the ensemble for a range of performances, including school events and regional competitions. In each performance, students demonstrate not only technical precision but also the soul and emotion that stem from hours of dedicated practice. Here are some of the ensemble’s key activities:

Leadership Development:
The Executive Committee (EXCO) of the Guzheng Ensemble plays a pivotal role in shaping the CCA experience. Comprising a dynamic mix of Sec 2 and 3 students, the EXCO is given numerous opportunities to cultivate their leadership skills. Together, they foster a positive culture and set the direction for the ensemble. The President (Music) work closely with members, providing coaching based on instructor feedback, while the Vice Presidents (Well-being and Discipline) and Level Leaders ensure the welfare and cohesion of all members. The Logistics Team manages the smooth execution of practices, and the Publicity Team creatively promotes the ensemble’s activities to engage the school and community.

Excellence:
The Guzheng Ensemble provides a rich and rewarding experience, highlighted by captivating performances and enriching opportunities. A staple at school events such as Chinese New Year celebrations and Speech Days, the ensemble enlivens audiences with festive melodies, setting a joyful tone for the year.
Dedicated to sharing their passion for Guzheng, the ensemble frequently performs at public events and participates in outreach programs. Noteworthy performances include the 2013 Huayi Festival at the Esplanade, the 2017 River Hongbao at Marina Bay, and the 2024 ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (AFEO) Welcome Dinner. In 2023, the ensemble also engaged in a valuable exchange with Anderson Primary School’s Guzheng Ensemble, sharing insights and experiences. In 2025, they presented a Guzheng Showcase at the Intergenerational Family Carnival, held in conjunction with SG60 – National Day 2025, celebrating music, community, and intergenerational connection.
Beyond performances, students deepen their appreciation for Guzheng through a variety of programmes. This continuous pursuit of excellence has garnered the ensemble prestigious accolades at the Singapore Youth Festival since 2001.
